Summary:

Awareness Champions build community awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia and engage people to become involved in the mission in a pursuit of a world without Alzheimer’s disease and all other dementia. Awareness Champions are existing Alzheimer's Association volunteers or community partners who take on an additional role to spread awareness to help the Association reach more individuals.

Key Activities:

  • Deliver occasional, brief Alzheimer's Association awareness presentations to community leaders, member organizations, partner and sponsor organizations and the public.
  • Provide information about Alzheimer's Association programs; connect community members to education and support; and increase community involvement in various Association initiatives including Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and The Longest Day.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated individuals with passion for supporting and encouraging the health and wellness of others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with strong storytelling skills.

Commitment Expected:

  • Awareness Champions should expect to commit ~ 1 hour in preparation time with online training to deliver occasional awareness presentations.
  • Awareness Champions are mentored locally by a fellow volunteer or staff partners.
